President's Message … Sarah Lonetti Sworn in as new PAFCS president!

Dear PAFCS Members,

Words cannot begin to express how excited I am to be your President for the 2010-2011 year. I have been involved with this organization since I was 19 years of age and this was a goal that I always had. When I was sworn in at the conference, I had the greatest feeling of pride and I thank you for choosing me to represent you.

The conference we had in Pittsburgh was outstanding. It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet new ones. I always leave the conference feeling refreshed and recharged, ready to go back into my classroom and share my knowledge. I extend a huge thank you to my planning committee who helped to make it all possible.

I encourage all of you to “be tigers” as Marilyn had mentioned and continue to find ways to advertise our programs to our communities. There is power in numbers. Please don’t forget to send your press releases into your local papers if you attended this year’s conference. I also ask if you are doing something positive in your program, let us know…we need to celebrate each others accomplishments!

I would like to make mention of our HUGS program, it is a great way to get involved with PAFCS and help our new and upcoming professionals. Melissa Welsh is currently in charge of that program and can be a contacted at mwelsh@ncsd.k12.pa.us

Lastly, let’s all mark our calendars for the upcoming events being hosted by AAFCS and PAFCS. The AAFCS conference is in Cleveland this year from June 24-27, 2010. Next years’ PAFCS conference is in State College and has been titled “New Challenges, New Solutions” and will take place March 10-12, 2011. Perhaps you would like to get involved with planning the conference as well. We can always use eager volunteers! If you are interested in helping on our planning committee, please e-mail me.

I wish you all a great remainder of the 2010 year and if I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to serve you!

Fondly,

Sarah A. Lonetti, President PAFCS
